scanR, Inc. ("scanR" or "We") values the privacy of our customers, users, and others (collectively or individually, "Users" or "You" ) who use the web site www.scanr.com, scanR mobile phone applications, and any other web sites, applications, or services owned or operated by scanR (the "scanR Service"). This policy governs the scanR Services and describes how we collect and handle personal information when you use the scanR Services.
This scanR privacy policy is incorporated into and is subject to the scanR Terms of Use. Your use of the scanR Services and any personal information you provide on the scanR Services remains subject to the terms of this privacy policy and the Terms of Use.
The Information We Collect
- "Registration Information": To use the scanR Services, you must register for an account and provide some limited "personally identifiable" information, which may include your name, password, e-mail address, mobile phone number, and other customary, identifying information of your phone and mobile carrier.
"Content Information": The scanR Services allow you to capture, transmit, store, and process information contained in documents, whiteboards, business cards, and other physical media. Using the image upload features or a scanR application on your mobile phone or by email or through the scanR web site or affiliated web sites from your personal computer, you may transmit these images and related "meta" information through the scanR Services.
With respect to Content Information, scanR uses all reasonable efforts to keep this information secure and confidential and will not share this information with any third parties (except at your direction, or solely as necessary to operate the scanR Services, as discussed in this notice).
- "Automatically Collected Information": When you use the scanR Services, we may automatically record certain information from your web browser by using different types of technology. The Automatically Collected Information may include session cookies and persistent cookies, Internet Protocol address , web browser type, the web pages or sites that you visit just before or just after using the scanR Services, the pages you view in connection with the scanR Services, and the dates and times that you invoke the scanR Services. Please review your web browser "Help" file to learn the proper way to modify your cookie settings.
How We Use The Information
- You may at your sole discretion opt-out of having scanR store your images and Content Information on your behalf, in which case scanR shall not store the images or such information after processing it through the scanR Services at your request, beyond a brief duration reasonably necessary to remove such images and Content Information from our systems.
- If you do not opt-out of having scanR store your images and Content Information on your behalf, then scanR collects and stores the images and Content Information that you choose to transmit through the scanR Services and, in some instances, the text contained in such images.
- scanR uses Registration Information and Automatically Collected Information to operate and maintain the scanR Services. scanR maintains and uses certain information we collect from processing images through the scanR Services for the purpose of improving the accuracy and performance of the scanR Services.
- scanR uses financial and billing information that it collects through the scanR Services to process your payments for the scanR Services and to contact you if we have trouble processing an order or for other customer service purposes. scanR does not otherwise use this financial information for marketing or promotional purposes.
Information Sharing and Disclosure
- Except as otherwise expressly provided in this policy or in the scanR Terms of Use or as stated at the time we request information, we do not disclose your email address, phone number or any other personal information to any third parties.
- scanR discloses certain user information to affiliated companies or other businesses or persons to: provide web site hosting, maintenance, and security services; fulfill orders (e.g., credit card processing services); conduct data analysis and create reports; offer certain functionality; and assist scanR in improving the scanR Services and creating new services features. We require that these parties process such information in compliance with this privacy policy. We authorize only a limited use of such information, and we require these parties to use reasonable confidentiality measures.
- When you use scanR to send a digital file or fax to someone else, your name, phone number, and email address may be displayed to the recipients chosen by you.
- scanR may also disclose user information if required to do so by law or in the good-faith belief that such action is necessary to comply with state and federal laws (such as U.S. Copyright law) or respond to a court order, judicial or other government subpoena, or warrant. In some cases, we may make such disclosures without first providing notice to users.
- scanR also reserves the right to disclose user information that we believe, in good faith, is appropriate or necessary to take precautions against liability; protect scanR from fraudulent, abusive, or unlawful uses; to investigate and defend ourselves against any third-party claims or allegations; to assist government enforcement agencies; to protect the security or integrity of the scanR Services; or to protect the rights, property, or personal safety of scanR, our users, or others.
- If we merge with, or are acquired by, another company, the resulting combined company will use the personal information you have provided as described in this policy.
- YOUR CHOICES:

You may, of course, decline to share your personally-identifiable information with scanR, in which case scanR will not be able to provide to you the scanR Services. You may update, correct, or delete your account information and preferences at any time by going to the Settings of the scanR web site.
To protect your privacy and security, we take reasonable steps to verify your identity before granting you account access or making corrections to your information. YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR MAINTAINING THE SECRECY OF YOUR UNIQUE PASSWORD AND ACCOUNT INFORMATION AT ALL TIMES.
Email Notifications. If you no longer wish to receive information about scanR or other promotional communications, you may opt-out of receiving them by following the instructions included in each communication or by emailing us at opt-out@scanR.com.
- OUR COMMITMENT TO DATA SECURITY:

scanR uses commercially reasonable physical, managerial, and technical safeguards to preserve the integrity and security of the information that we collect. We cannot, however, ensure or warrant the security of any information you transmit to scanR or through the scanR Services, and you do so at your own risk. Once we receive your transmission of information, scanR makes commercially reasonable efforts to ensure the security of our systems. However, please note that this is not a guarantee that such information may not be accessed, disclosed, altered, or destroyed by breach of any of our physical, technical, or managerial safeguards.
If scanR learns of a security systems breach, then we may attempt to notify you electronically so that you can take appropriate protective steps. scanR may post a notice on the scanR web site if a security breach occurs. Depending on where you live, you may have a legal right to receive notice of a security breach in writing. To receive a free written notice of a security breach, you should notify us at privacy@scanR.com.

This privacy policy may be revised periodically without further notice to you and this will be reflected by a "last modified" date below. Please revisit this page to stay aware of any changes. In general, we only use your personal information in the manner described in the privacy policy in effect when we received that personal information. Your continued use of the scanR Services constitutes your agreement to this privacy policy and any future revisions.
For revisions to this privacy policy that may be materially less restrictive on our use or disclosure of personal information you have provided to us, we will make reasonable efforts to notify you and obtain your consent before implementing such revisions with respect to such information.
